Shooting in Switzerland leaves 1 dead, 5 wounded — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least one person has been killed and five others injured in a shooting at the annual Aarauer Rave in northern Switzerland, according to reports. Al Jazeera, citing local police, reported that the shooting occurred before 3am at the racecourse where the event was held. Police said the identity and number of shooters, as well as the motive, remained unknown. Swiss newspaper Blick reported that around 3,500 people attended the techno event. Police cordoned off large areas of Aarau and launched a search operation, appealing to the public for photos or videos of the incident. Police spokeswoman Vanessa Rumpold said several shots were fired among a large crowd, while a witness reported hearing bursts of gunfire. Switzerland has one of Europe’s highest gun-ownership rates, although violent shootings are relatively rare.
