China urges Israel to halt West Bank settlement expansion — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has urged Israel to stop building settlements in the occupied West Bank and reverse their expansion. Reuters reported on Friday that Wang made the remarks during a meeting with Israeli President Isaac Herzog in Azerbaijan. According to a statement from China’s Foreign Ministry, Wang said the Palestinian issue represented the greatest historical injustice of the current century. He said the two-state solution was the right way to resolve the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, adding that the immediate priority was to fully reopen access routes to the Gaza Strip to prevent the humanitarian crisis from worsening. Wang said China was ready to work with the international community to bring the parties to the conflict back to dialogue and consultations and achieve a political settlement. China has long supported Palestinian rights and called for the Israeli-Palestinian conflict to be resolved through a two-state solution.
