Fuel prices increase in Kabul during the outgoing week — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Prices of fuel, liquefied gas, flour, cooking oil and sugar increased, while gold prices declined during the outgoing week in Kabul markets. A worker at the Wazirabad fuel station said the price of one litre of petrol rose from 77afs to 82afs, while diesel increased from 73afs to 74afs. Mohammad Jan Amin, a shopkeeper in Kabul’s Dahan-i-Bagh area, said the price of one kilogram of liquefied gas increased from 64afs to 75afs. Meanwhile, gas prices varied in different parts of the city. Ahmad Farid, a gas seller in the 16th district, said the price of one kilogram of liquefied gas had increased from 75afs to 80afs compared to last Saturday. Fuel sellers attributed the rise in prices to renewed clashes between the US and Iran, saying fuel imports from Iran had currently stopped. Officials also linked the increase to global and regional developments, stressing that market controls were being strengthened and prices were expected to decline soon. Zamari Safi, head of the Food Traders Union in Kabul, said the wholesale price of a 49-kilogram sack of Kazakh flour increased from 1,580afs to 1,600afs, a 49-kilogram sack of Indian sugar from 2,600afs to 2,700afs, and a 16-litre bottle of Malaysian cooking oil from 1,850afs to 1,900afs.
