KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports says Qosh Tepa have won the inaugural Afghanistan Premier Wrestling League, which concluded in Kabul after 10 days of competition. In a statement issued on Thursday, the directorate said the tournament was organized by the National Wrestling Federation and featured 10 teams representing different provinces across the country. The competition began 10 days ago at the 2,500-seat gymnasium of the national sports authority and ended on Wednesday night. The statement said the league was contested in various weight categories, ranging from 57 kilograms to 125 kilograms. Qosh Tepa secured the championship title, while Akhuwat finished runners-up and Setareha (Stars) took third place. The General Directorate of Olympic, Physical Education and Sports said the tournament was aimed at identifying emerging wrestling talents. At the closing ceremony, trophies, medals, certificates, and other prizes were presented to the winning teams.
