3 policemen killed, 4 injured in KP attacks — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Three policemen have been killed and four others injured in an armed attack in Koz Dir district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, while a car bomb attack on a police station in Bannu left four people injured and caused damage to nearby houses and shops. Koz Dir police said the attack took place in the Haider Top area when a police team was heading for a search and targeted operation. According to a police statement, armed assailants opened fire on the team, killing three policemen and injuring four others. A police official told the BBC that the attackers were lying in wait in an ambush and used hand grenades in addition to gunfire during the attack. Local police, without providing further details, said the attackers also suffered casualties. Meanwhile, police in Bannu said armed men targeted the Marjan police station with an explosives-laden vehicle, triggering a powerful blast. The BBC, quoting local residents, reported that the explosion damaged not only the police station but also nearby shops and houses. Hospital sources said four injured people were taken to hospital for medical treatment after the blast.
