KABUL (Pajhwok): The Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA) says preparations have been made for newly established master’s and PhD programmes and faculties, with priority to be given to professional Afghan lecturers and foreign lecturers to be invited if necessary. Addressing a press conference today (Monday), IEA chief spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid, responding to a Pajhwok question, said the newly established faculties and academic programmes included fields related to modern needs, including artificial intelligence. He noted that new educational opportunities had also been created in agriculture, health and technology. Mujahid described the establishment of the new programmes and faculties as a positive step for Afghanistan’s future, saying the move was important for the country’s academic development, reconstruction and strengthening of higher education capacity. Regarding the recruitment of lecturers for the new programmes, Mujahid said priority would be given to qualified professional lecturers already available in Afghanistan. He added that as long as qualified lecturers were available in the country, there would be no need to bring lecturers from abroad and domestic professionals would be recruited through open announcements. “However, in fields where no lecturers can be found in the country through the recruitment process, we will have to invite lecturers from abroad.
