Afghanistan to establish joint-stock oil refining company — Pajhwok
KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Chamber of Commerce and Investment (ACCI) says a joint-stock company will be established to invest in oil refining and processing, with plans to construct a refinery capable of producing 5,000 tonnes of diesel and petrol per day. The ACCI said in a statement that the second meeting of the committee tasked with establishing the joint-stock company was held under the chairmanship of ACCI Director General Sayed Karim Hashemi and Afghanistan Chamber of Industries and Mines Director General Ahmad Nabi-Zada. The meeting focused on the establishment of the joint-stock company, investment opportunities, and mechanisms for launching its operations. Following discussions, the committee decided that the first step would be to establish a joint-stock company focused on oil refining and processing. According to the ACCI, the first phase of the project envisages the construction of a standard refinery with a daily production capacity of 5,000 tonnes of diesel and petrol. The chamber said the refinery would be designed and built using modern technology and advanced equipment and would comply with recognized regional standards, Afghanistan’s national standards, and requirements related to quality, safety, and environmental protection.
