Oman postpones regional foreign ministers’ meeting — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Oman has postponed a meeting of foreign ministers from eight regional countries, including Iran and Iraq that was scheduled to discuss security and safe shipping through the Strait of Hormuz. The meeting was scheduled for Monday in Salalah, Oman, with the participation of foreign ministers from Bahrain, Iran, Iraq, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. The meeting was expected to focus on the current regional situation and ways to ensure the safe passage of commercial vessels through the Strait of Hormuz. Omani Foreign Minister Badr Albusaidi said in a post on X that the meeting had been postponed “in order to build consensus.” He said Muscat remained committed to strengthening dialogue that supports stability and sustainable cooperation in the region. Albusaidi also shared an image showing the flags of the eight participating countries. The Omani foreign minister did not announce a new date for the meeting. Earlier, Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi had said he would attend the meeting.
