KABUL (Pajhwok): About 148 families, comprising 671 people, have returned to the country from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan, an official said on Tuesday. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared the High Commission for Addressing Refugees’ Problems’ report on his X account. It said 64 families, comprising 334 people, returned to the country through the Torkham crossing and were registered. The commission added that 70 families, comprising 353 people, were transferred from Torkham to various provinces, with 295,170 afghanis paid for their transport fares. It noted that a total of 584,000 afghanis in cash assistance was provided to 70 families in Torkham, while health and telecommunication services were also provided at the Omari Camp. Seven families, comprising 35 people, also returned to the country through Spin Boldak in Kandahar. Officials said five of these families, comprising 29 people, were transferred to various provinces, and 66,000 afghanis was paid to cover their transport costs. It added that a total of 56,000 afghanis was provided to seven families at Spin Boldak, where food, health and telecommunication services were also provided. According to the report, 63 families, comprising 250 people, returned to the country through Pul-i-Abresham in Nimroz, while 1,217 other passengers also returned.
