KABUL (Pajhwok): A government-owned commercial market built at a cost of 54 million afghanis has been inaugurated in Mazar-i-Sharif, the capital of northern Balkh province, with officials saying it will help boost trade, investment and employment. According to a statement from the General Directorate of State-Owned Corporations, the market was constructed by the state-owned Arazagh Corporation on a plot covering 9,242 square metres. The facility comprises two floors and 11 blocks. Mawlawi Abdul Raziq Rafi, executive director of Arazagh Corporation, said at the inauguration ceremony that the market would contribute to increasing the corporation’s revenue, promoting trade and economic activity, and creating employment opportunities for local residents. Rafi called on local traders to invest through Arazagh Corporation and play an active role in providing services to citizens. Local officials in Balkh described the opening of the market as a step toward expanding trade, economic activity and investment in the province and creating more job opportunities for residents.
