KABUL (Pajhwok): The Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) says its Contact Group on Afghanistan will hold a meeting in New York on the sidelines of the 81st session of the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA). In a statement, the OIC said Secretary-General Ismail Ould Cheikh Ahmed had travelled to New York with a high-level delegation to attend the UNGA session. The organisation said its delegation would participate in high-level UNGA events and hold bilateral meetings with heads of delegations from member states, senior international officials and UN representatives. It added that the annual coordination meeting of foreign ministers from OIC member states would also be held at the UN headquarters on the sidelines of the General Assembly. The OIC said several meetings of ministerial contact groups and specialised committees were also scheduled, including the Six-Party Committee on Palestine and contact groups on Muslim communities and minorities, European regional issues, Jammu and Kashmir, Rohingya Muslims in Myanmar and Afghanistan. The statement did not specify the date of the Afghanistan contact group meeting or the issues to be discussed. The OIC delegation will also attend a ministerial meeting of the Global Alliance for the Implementation of the Two-State Solution and a ministerial meeting in support of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA).
