JALALABAD (Pajhwok): At least seven people, including children and women, have been killed and one wounded in four separate traffic accidents in various parts of eastern Nangarhar province, police said on Sunday. In a statement, the police headquarters said the accidents took place in the 1st and 7th police districts of Jalalabad city, as well as in various areas of Batikot and Kot districts on Saturday. It said four women, all members of the same family, were killed and the driver was seriously wounded after a vehicle crashed into a tree in Batikot district. It added that a child died after being hit by a vehicle in Kot district. The statement noted that a truck also hit a child in the Qasaba area of the 1st police district of Jalalabad, killing the child. It added that another person was killed in a separate traffic accident in the Sabzabad area of the 7th police district of the provincial capital. The statement linked the traffic accidents to reckless driving and failure to observe traffic rules.
