Tajikistan ready to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) says Tajikistan’s electricity authorities have expressed readiness to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan. Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, DABS chief executive officer and his delegation met with Mohammad Umar Asuzoda, head of Tajikistan’s electricity company, Barq-i-Tajik, in Tajikistan. According to a DABS statement, the two sides stressed the importance of expanding cooperation in the electricity and energy sectors during the meeting. The statement said they also discussed strengthening and developing electricity transmission lines between Afghanistan and Tajikistan, tariffs, investment opportunities, technical training and long-term cooperation. According to the statement, the Tajik side provided information about a plan to construct a 500-kilovolt transmission line and expressed readiness to increase electricity exports to Afghanistan. The two sides agreed that their technical and commercial teams would continue discussions and work towards practical outcomes, the statement said. DABS said it was committed to pursuing sustainable cooperation with Tajikistan, increasing energy exchanges and implementing practical projects.
