KABUL (Pajhwok): Minister of Commerce and Industry Nooruddin Azizi and Iranian Energy Minister Abbas Aliabadi have discussed the export of around 2,000 megawatts of electricity to Afghanistan, economic cooperation and joint investment. In a statement, the Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said Azizi met Aliabadi in Kabul in the presence of Iranian Ambassador to Afghanistan Alireza Bikdeli. It said the two sides discussed the export of around 2,000 megawatts of electricity to Afghanistan, the export of equipment required for power generation facilities and water treatment plants, as well as equipment needed for electricity generation in Afghanistan. The meeting also covered the economic capacities of the two countries, the expansion of trade and economic ties, and joint investment. The Iranian energy minister and his accompanying delegation stressed the shared relations and cultural ties between the two countries and invited Azizi to visit Iran in the coming months to attend exhibitions on water and electricity. For his part, Azizi expressed his readiness and support for expanding joint economic and trade activities between Afghanistan and Iran. Abbas Aliabadi and his accompanying delegation arrived in Kabul on Wednesday.
