KABUL (Pajhwok): Al-Azhar University has called for the immediate formation of a mediation committee comprising respected figures from Arab and Islamic countries to help end regional wars and conflicts. According to a report published on the official website of Egypt’s State Information Service, Ahmed Al-Tayeb, the Grand Imam of Al-Azhar, on Sunday urged Arab and Islamic countries to end the wars and resolve their differences through dialogue. He warned that the ongoing conflicts were claiming innocent lives, destroying resources and threatening regional stability. Al-Azhar proposed forming a mediation committee of respected figures from Arab and Islamic countries to ease tensions, bring the parties to the negotiating table and seek peaceful solutions to existing disputes. Al-Tayeb expressed his readiness to support the committee’s efforts to end the conflicts and prevent further bloodshed. He also urged all parties to set aside their differences and prioritise peace, national sovereignty and the protection of innocent lives. Al-Azhar emphasised the importance of dialogue and cooperation in safeguarding the future of Arab and Islamic countries.
