KABUL (Pajhwok): Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi says Tehran will remain in close contact with intermediaries to give diplomacy a chance, even as its armed forces stand ready to defend the country. “While our brave armed forces are fully prepared to defend the country, Iran remains committed to giving diplomacy a chance to succeed,” he wrote on his X account. “We will continue our close and continuous communication with intermediaries to explore ideas that could implement the seven-day plan, even within a period of less than a week,” he added. Iran proposed a seven-day roadmap in early October this year to end the war with the United States, which included a cessation of hostilities. According to reports, Iran’s proposal was conveyed to Washington through mediators. It aimed to re-establish the terms of a previous understanding reached between the United States and Iran in June. Meanwhile, Al Jazeera recently reported that Gulf countries had stepped up diplomatic efforts with Iran to prevent tensions in the Middle East from escalating and avert a resumption of the war between the United States and Iran.
