Afghan, Kazakh officials discuss expanding health cooperation — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan and Kazakh officials have discussed ways to strengthen cooperation in regulating and trading food, medicines and medical products, as well as promoting joint investment and technical collaboration, the Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) said. Deputy Minister for Food and Drugs Mawlawi Hamdullah Zahid and his accompanying delegation held talks with Kazakh officials during a visit to Kazakhstan, where they attended the Afghanistan-Kazakhstan Trade and Medical Forum. According to a ministry statement, Zahid, addressing the forum, stressed the importance of expanding trade, investment and technical cooperation between the two countries. He also briefed participants on recent developments in Afghanistan and available investment opportunities. He emphasised the need to strengthen cooperation in regulating food, medicines and health products, facilitating trade, ensuring standardised trade in medicines and medical equipment, promoting joint investment, enhancing the capacity of manufacturing factories and laboratories, training specialists and improving quality control, the statement added. At the conclusion of the forum, Zahid met with Kazakhstan’s deputy health minister and representatives of relevant institutions. The two sides agreed to continue holding regular meetings to strengthen cooperation in the regulation of food, medicines and health products, facilitate trade and expand bilateral ties, the statement said.
