KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 11 people have been killed and 56 others injured following a Russian missile and drone attack on Ukraine’s capital, Kyiv, media reports said. According to Al Jazeera, Ukrainian officials said the attack, which hit Kyiv early on Monday morning, killed at least 10 people inside the capital and one more in surrounding areas. In total, 46 people were injured in Kyiv and 10 in nearby districts. Tymur Tkachenko, head of Kyiv’s military administration, said at least 15 buildings, including four in the historic Podilskyi district, were damaged in the attack. Search and rescue operations are ongoing, raising fears that the death toll may rise. Ukraine’s army said Russia fired 68 missiles and 351 drones during the overnight attack. Ukrainian media reported that thousands of residents took shelter in underground bunkers after air raid sirens were triggered. President Volodymyr Zelensky had warned a day earlier that Russia could launch a major attack ahead of the NATO summit, where he is expected to meet US President Donald Trump on the sidelines. Meanwhile, Russian officials said an Ukrainian attack on energy infrastructure near Sevastopol in Crimea caused a temporary power outage in the city.
