Goods transport through 4 railway routes more than doubles — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): More than 4.8 million metric tonnes of commercial goods were transported through the Hairatan, Aqina and Torghundi ports and the Khaf-Herat railway during the first six months of the current solar year, more than double the volume recorded during the same period last year, the Ministry of Public Works said. Ministry spokesman Mohammad Ashraf Haqshinaswrote on his X account on Thursday that a total of 4,888,268 metric tonnes of goods had been transported through the four routes during the first six months of 1405. He said 2,182,312 metric tonnes of commercial goods had been transported through the same routes during the corresponding period of 1404. The figures show that the volume of goods transported during the first six months of this year was more than twice that of the same period last year. Haqshinas said the imports included fuel, liquefied gas, wheat, flour, cooking oil and other food and construction materials. He added that dried fruit, carbonated drinks, mineral stones, cotton and other domestic products had also been exported to regional countries through these routes. The spokesman said the increase in the transportation of goods and exports by rail had played an important role in creating employment opportunities, increasing national revenue and strengthening economic stability, development and self-sufficiency.
