KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) says the General Directorate of Traffic Police issued 145,000 driving licences and 388,000 vehicle registration documents over the past year and recovered 181 stolen vehicles, returning them to their owners. In a post on X, MoI spokesman Mufti Abdul Mateen Qani said the achievements were made during the past solar year in the areas of traffic management, road safety and the digitalisation of services. He said the Traffic Police issued 145,000 driving licences and 388,000 vehicle registration documents during the period. As a result of security measures, 181 stolen vehicles were also recovered and handed back to their owners. Qani added that reducing administrative procedures and digitalising services had made the process easier for citizens, while the country’s highways were being monitored around the clock to help prevent traffic accidents. He said projects to install lane dividers and mark 120,000 square metres of roads in Kabul and the provinces had also been successfully completed to improve traffic management.
