National bodybuilding, fitness event gets underway in Kabul — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): The General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports says the 19th National Bodybuilding and Fitness Selection Championship has begun in Kabul, with 209 athletes from 21 provinces taking part. In a statement, the directorate said the two-day tournament opened on Monday at the 500-seat gymnasium of the National Sports Authority in coordination with the Afghanistan Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation. According to the statement, the bodybuilding events are being contested in weight categories ranging from 55kg to over 95kg, while the fitness competitions feature athletes in height categories from 165cm to over 185cm. At the end of the championship, 60 athletes will be selected for the national fitness team and 50 others for the national bodybuilding team. The directorate added that the title of “Mr. Afghanistan” will also be awarded alongside the selection of the national team members.
