KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) has prevented more than 125 tonnes of substandard solar panels from entering the Afghan market and returned them to the country of origin. In a statement, the authority said six consignments of substandard solar panels had been blocked as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the quality of imported goods and protect consumers’ rights. It said the Standards and Quality Department in Nimroz province determined, following inspections and assessments at the Nimroz border crossing, that the consignments did not meet national standards. The authority added that the six consignments weighed a total of 125,790 kilograms, equivalent to around 125 tonnes. Laboratory tests showed the shipments failed to meet the required quality standards. As a result, the consignments were prevented from entering the domestic market and were returned to the country of origin, the statement concluded.
