KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) and the Ministry of Mines and Petroleum (MoMP) have signed an agreement to provide security for four major economic projects. In a statement, the MoI said the Public Protection Security Enterprise would be responsible for securing the Mes Aynak copper mine, the Badakhshan lapis lazuli mine, the Sheberghan–Mazar gas pipeline project and the Amu River project. The ministry said the projects would be protected by trained and professional security personnel to ensure their operations continue in a safe and secure environment. The agreement was signed by Saeedullah Hamas, deputy head of the Public Protection Security Enterprise at the MoI, and Abdul Rahman Qanit, deputy minister for policy and programmes at the MoMP.
