KABUL (Pajhwok): Iraqi Prime Minister Faleh Ali Al-Zaidi has arrived in Tehran at the head of a high-level delegation on an official visit at the invitation of Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian, media reports said. Iran’s official news agency IRNA reported that President Pezeshkian formally welcomed Al-Zaidi at the Saadabad Cultural-Historical Complex in Tehran. In a post on X, Al-Zaidi said he would hold talks with senior Iranian officials on issues of mutual interest, bilateral cooperation, regional developments and efforts to strengthen security and stability in the region. “Iraq and Iran are bound by historical and cultural ties, shared borders and common interests,” he wrote. Al-Zaidi said these ties required continued cooperation based on dialogue, partnership and mutual respect to promote sustainable development and prosperity for the people of both countries and contribute to regional and international peace and stability.
