KABUL (Pajhwok): Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) has said it targeted a US military base in Jordan with ballistic missiles, while the US Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed the attack but claimed that all missiles were intercepted. According to Iran’s ISNA news agency, the IRGC Aerospace Force said it fired several ballistic missiles at a US air base and a Central Command facility in Jordan in response to American military actions. The IRGC said: “As long as threats against the Islamic Republic of Iran continue and illegal and hostile actions by US forces against our interests persist, resistance will continue.” It added that “threats by US officials and illegal interference against our interests must stop.” Meanwhile, CENTCOM confirmed in a statement on X that its base in Jordan had been targeted in what it described as a “surprise” attack by the IRGC. The US command said the attack involved ballistic missiles but claimed that all Iranian missiles were successfully intercepted. “US forces remain vigilant and at a high state of readiness,” CENTCOM said. The reported attack came after a four-day pause in hostilities between Iran and the United States.
