KABUL (Pajhwok): The United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) says at least 300 children have been killed during the 300 days since a ceasefire was declared in Gaza. The UN Office in Geneva said on Friday, quoting Louise Wateridge, a spokesperson for the organisation, that children continue to fall victim to violence despite the ceasefire. “The world calls it a ceasefire, but families in Gaza are still burying their children,” Wateridge said. She expressed concern over the continued deaths of children, saying at least 300 had been killed in Gaza since the ceasefire began. Wateridge said Gaza residents were living in dire conditions, spending their days and nights in tents with limited resources. She added that children were suffering from various diseases and malnutrition, while many hospital buildings had been destroyed. Shortages of medicines and medical equipment also remained a serious concern. Wateridge stressed the need to protect civilians, particularly children, and called for an end to the continued loss of children’s lives in Gaza.
