KABUL (Pajhwok): The Minister of Commerce and Industry has met with Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Jihad and chairman of the two countries’ Joint Economic Cooperation Commission to discuss expanding economic, trade and agricultural cooperation. The Ministry of Commerce and Industry (MoCI) said in a statement on X on Thursday that Nooruddin Azizi met with Gholamreza Nouri Ghezeljeh, Iran’s Minister of Agriculture Jihad, in Kabul. According to the statement, the two sides discussed the export of Afghan carpets and rugs to Iran, removing transit restrictions on Afghan export goods transported through Iranian territory and signing a quarantine agreement. They also discussed the transit of Afghan goods through the port of Chabahar, providing refrigerated containers for transporting export products, facilitating the inspection and checking of goods, and reducing transportation costs. Nouri Ghezeljeh said Iran was seriously committed to expanding cooperation with Afghanistan, particularly in the agricultural sector. He added that the Iranian government had established a working group on Afghanistan, while the Ministry of Agriculture Jihad had also formed a committee to advance efforts and strengthen agricultural relations between the two countries. Nouri Ghezeljeh also expressed Iran’s readiness for joint investment in agriculture and production.
