2 Afghan wrestlers win bronze medals at international event in Tajikistan — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Two Afghan wrestlers have won bronze medals at an international wrestling competition in Tajikistan, the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports said. In a statement, the directorate said Rahimullah Najmi and Zabihullah Ahsani secured bronze medals after defeating their respective opponents. Najmi competed in the 65kg category, defeating opponents from Azerbaijan and Iran before losing to a Russian wrestler. Along with the bronze medal, he received a cash prize of $5,000. Ahsani, competing in the 78kg category, defeated opponents from South Korea and Iran before losing to a Tajik wrestler. He also received a $5,000 cash prize in addition to his bronze medal. The directorate said athletes from more than 70 countries participated in the competition. The event began on August 14 in Dushanbe, the capital of Tajikistan, and will continue until August 17.
