Former US National Counterterrorism Center Chief: Ending war with Iran is Trump’s only way out

Pars Today — Joe Kent, former head of the US National Counterterrorism Center, said that withdrawing from the war with Iran is Donald Trump’s only way out. According to Pars Today, citing IRIB, Kent compared the current situation of US forces in the war against Iran to the disastrous US withdrawal from Afghanistan, warning that by keeping American forces within range of Iranian missiles and drones, Trump has trapped himself in a cycle of renewed escalation. Kent stressed that keeping US forces in the region gives Iran the upper hand and could put Washington in a position where Tehran determines when and under what conditions the United States returns to the war. He called on Trump to withdraw from the war now, before disaster strikes, and to pull US forces out of the region.
