KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says nearly 70 tonnes of construction and textile goods have been prevented from entering Afghanistan through the Islam Qala port after inspections found that they failed to meet required standards. In a statement, the authority said its officials at Islam Qala inspected the goods as part of ongoing efforts to monitor the quality of imported products and protect consumer rights. The goods included 40,820 kilograms of rebar and 28,920 kilograms of carpets, weighing a total of 69,740 kilograms, the statement said. ASQA said it was continuing efforts to prevent the import of substandard goods and ensure quality, safety and consumer confidence.
