KABUL (Pajhwok): The Ministry of Interior (MoI) says 274 kilograms of drugs have been seized and nine people arrested in two separate counter-narcotics operations in central Maidan Wardak and northeastern Badakhshan provinces. In a statement, the ministry said special counter-narcotics forces of the Maidan Wardak police headquarters seized 174kg of drugs during a targeted operation in the province and arrested five people in connection with the trafficking. In a separate operation, counter-narcotics forces of the Badakhshan police headquarters prevented the smuggling of more than 100kg of drugs in Kishm district, the ministry said. Four people were arrested in connection with the trafficking of the drugs, it added. According to the ministry, the suspects have been handed over to relevant authorities for further investigation and legal proceedings.
