KABUL (Pajhwok): A total of 317 Afghan families, comprising 1,556 people, returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said Tuesday. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared a report by the Commission for Addressing the Problems of Afghan Refugees on his X account. According to the commission, 185 families, comprising 990 people, returned to Afghanistan and were registered through the Torkham crossing. The commission said 123 families, comprising 655 people, were transported from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with more than 496,000 afghanis provided to cover their transportation costs. It added that 1.212 million afghanis in cash assistance was distributed among 151 families at Torkham, while healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari camp. Meanwhile, 22 families, comprising 134 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province. Officials said 27 families, comprising 156 people, were transported to various provinces, with more than 286,000 afghanis provided to cover their transportation costs. The commission added that 196,000 afghanis in cash assistance was provided to 22 families at Spin Boldak, while food, healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided.
