KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) has prevented a shipment of nearly 34 tonnes of substandard tiles and ceramics from entering the country through the Sheikh Abu Nasr Farahi port and returned it to its country of origin. ASQA said in a statement on Wednesday that its technical staff, during an inspection, found that the 33,880-kilogram shipment did not meet Afghanistan’s domestic standards. The authority said the consignment was returned to its country of origin after being barred from entering the Afghan market. ASQA said quality control and inspection of imported goods would continue at all ports across the country, stressing that it would not tolerate the entry of low-quality, substandard or health-threatening products.
