FERUZKOH (Pajhwok): The Labour and Social Affairs Department in western Ghor provinces say 1,847 people are currently receiving vocational training through classes organised by the department and programmes conducted in cooperation with partner organisations, aimed at developing practical skills and creating employment opportunities. Mullah Nasrullah Ansar, head of the Ghor Labour and Social Affairs Department, told Pajhwok Afghan News that the participants are undergoing six-month training in various fields, including mobile phone repair, metalwork, tailoring, motorcycle repair, embroidery, curtain making, poultry farming, jam production, dairy processing and bag making. He said the training programmes were launched to help reduce unemployment and create employment opportunities. He added that efforts were being made, in coordination with the Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs, the Ghor local administration and partner organisations, to expand vocational training and create more job opportunities for young people and those in need. Several participants welcomed the vocational training opportunities, saying the skills they acquire could help them enter the labour market after completing their courses and earn an income for themselves and their families. They added that learning vocational skills could help reduce economic dependence and provide a way to cope with the challenges caused by unemployment.
