KABUL (Pajhwok): At least five people, including a child, were killed and dozens more injured after a US attack targeted a wedding ceremony near the Iranian port city of Sirik, according to reports. Al Jazeera reported today (Wednesday, Sept. 2) that the attack targeted a wedding ceremony north of Sirik. The report said at least five people were killed and dozens more injured, with a child among those killed. Sirik is located in Hormozgan province, near the Strait of Hormuz. The incident comes amid renewed military tensions between the United States and Iran following several weeks of reduced hostilities. According to the report, the US military carried out a fresh wave of strikes against targets belonging to Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) on Tuesday. The strikes targeted air-defense facilities, radar systems, maritime equipment, mine-laying capabilities and communications centers. In response, Iran said it had targeted US assets in Jordan and Iraq with missiles and drones. Iranian media also reported attacks on targets in Bahrain.
