KABUL (Pajhwok): One individual has been killed and three others wounded after an 18-year-old man attacked students with a sword at a school in central Sweden, police said. The suspect was shot and arrested by officers. The attack took place at Brinell High School in Fagersta on Friday, a town of around 13,000 people. The school had recently reopened after the summer break, Reuters reported Local police chief Tommy Alriksson said officers responded to reports of the attack and shot the suspect before arresting him on suspicion of murder. Health officials said two teenage boys suffered serious injuries, while another victim was treated and discharged from hospital. Swedish broadcaster SVT, citing anonymous sources, reported that the suspect was a former student at the school and was wearing a protective helmet and carrying a sword. He had reportedly previously been convicted of assault. Police are also investigating a TikTok account linked to the incident, where a photo of a sword was allegedly posted about 20 minutes before the attack. Prime Minister Ulf Kristersson expressed condolences to the victims and their families. Sweden has experienced deadly attacks at educational institutions before. In February 2025, an armed man killed 10 people at a school in Örebro before taking his own life.
