KABUL (Pajhwok): A total of 137 Afghan families, comprising 610 people, returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said Sunday. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared a report by the Commission for Addressing the Problems of Afghan Refugees on his X account. According to the commission, 85 families, comprising 400 people, returned to Afghanistan and were registered through the Torkham crossing. The commission said 80 families, comprising 424 people, were transported from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with more than 323,470 afghanis provided to cover their transportation costs. Meanwhile, a total of 976,000 Afghanis were provided in cash assistance to 119 families in Torkham, and health and communication services were also provided in the Omari camp. Seven families, totaling 30 people, have also returned to the country via Spin Boldak in Kandahar. Officials said eight families, comprising 37 people, were transported to various provinces, with more than 59,200 afghanis provided to cover their transportation costs. A total of 46,000 Afghanis were provided to 7 families in Spin Boldak, and food, health, and communication services were also provided to them.
