19 firefighters among 21 injured in New York blaze — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 21 people, including 19 firefighters, were injured after a major fire broke out in the Flushing neighbourhood of New York City’s Queens borough, authorities said on Sunday. According to Reuters, the fire erupted around 10:00am local time on Saturday in a residential building near College Point Boulevard before spreading to two neighbouring buildings. The New York City Fire Department said all 19 injured firefighters were taken to hospital for treatment. Five of them sustained moderate to serious injuries, including one who was reported to be in critical condition. The remaining injuries were not considered life-threatening. Emergency crews rescued several residents from the building where the fire started. The cause of the blaze remains under investigation.
