1st tyre tube factory opens in Herat with $5m investment — Pajhwok

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): The first factory producing tyre tubes for small vehicles has been established and begun operations in western Herat province with an investment of five million US dollars. The factory produces inner tubes for motorcycles, tricycles, bicycles and other small vehicles, the governor’s press office said in a statement. During its trial phase, it has the capacity to produce 10,000 tubes a day. It said one of the factory’s production units was currently operational. Once the remaining units are completed and new machinery installed, its production capacity will increase and around 500 direct jobs will be created. The statement described security provision and facilities for investors as key factors in industrial growth, calling the factory’s launch a step towards reducing imports and strengthening domestic production. It added that around 1,500 manufacturing factories are currently operating in Herat Industrial Park.
