KABUL (Pajhwok): About 202 families, comprising 1,016 people, returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said on Saturday. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared the report of the Commission for Addressing the Problems of Afghan Refugees on his X account. According to the commission, 148 families, comprising 778 people, returned to Afghanistan and were registered through the Torkham crossing. The commission said 15 families, comprising 72 people, were transported from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with more than 31,000 afghanis provided to cover their transport costs. It added that 530,000 afghanis in cash assistance was distributed among 66 families at Torkham, while healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari camp. Meanwhile, 32 families, comprising 161 people, returned to Afghanistan through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province. Officials said 23 of these families, comprising 116 people, were transported to various provinces, with more than 141,000 afghanis provided to cover their transport costs. The commission said 254,000 afghanis in total was provided to 31 families at Spin Boldak, while food, healthcare and telecommunications services were also provided.
