3 theft gangs arrested, 24 stolen vehicles recovered in Herat — Pajhwok

HERAT CITY (Pajhwok): Police in western Herat province say members of three “professional theft” groups have been arrested and 24 stolen vehicles recovered. Herat Police Command Security Chief Qari Najibullah Ali said: “Three groups of professional thieves have been arrested and 24 stolen vehicles have been recovered in Herat province.” He said the suspects had carried out armed robberies in various provinces and transported the stolen vehicles to Herat. He added that security forces had arrested all members of the three groups. Ali did not disclose the exact number of people arrested. Meanwhile, Herat Police spokesperson Syed Masoud Hussaini said initial investigations showed that most of the recovered vehicles had been stolen from different provinces and later brought to Herat. Hussaini added that the stolen vehicles would be returned to their original owners after verification of ownership documents.
