KABUL (Pajhwok): A total of 460 families, comprising 2,292 people, returned to Afghanistan from neighbouring Iran and Pakistan in a single day, an official said on Thursday. Mullah Hamdullah Fitrat, deputy spokesman for the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan (IEA), shared a report by the High Commission for Addressing Returnees’ Problems on his X account. According to the report, 372 families, comprising 1,947 people, returned through the Torkham crossing and were registered there. It said 370 families, comprising 2,062 people, were transported from Torkham to Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Kabul provinces, with 413,000 afghanis provided to cover their transport costs. The report said 441 families at Torkham received a total of 3.698 million afghanis in cash assistance. Health and telecommunications services were also provided at the Omari Camp. Meanwhile, 17 families, comprising 85 people, returned through the Spin Boldak crossing in Kandahar province. Officials said 18 families, comprising 101 people, were transported to different provinces and received 91,000 afghanis to cover their transport expenses. The commission said 18 families at Spin Boldak also received a total of 150,000 afghanis in cash assistance, along with food, health and telecommunications services. According to the report, 66 families, comprising 339 people, returned through the Abresham crossing in Nimroz province, while 238 individual travellers also entered Afghanistan.
