KABUL (Pajhwok): The Afghanistan Standards and Quality Authority (ASQA) says it has identified 480 tonnes of cement as substandard at Hairatan port and returned it to the exporting country. In a statement issued today, the authority said its technical staff determined during quality assessments and inspections that the imported cement did not meet Afghanistan’s established standards. The source added that after the cement was found to be substandard, its entry into Afghan markets was prevented and all 480 tonnes were returned to the exporting country. The ASQA statement did not identify the country of origin of the cement or the importing company. The authority stressed that the quality assessment and control of imported goods is being carried out regularly at all of the country’s ports and that substandard and non-conforming goods will not be allowed to enter Afghan markets.
