9 arrested over drug trafficking in Ghor, Badghis — Pajhwok

FEROZKOH (Pajhwok): Security officials in western Ghor and Badghis provinces say nine people have been arrested in the past 24 hours on suspicion of drug trafficking, processing and sale, with hundreds of kilogrammes of narcotics seized. Badghis police spokesman Sediqullah Sediqi said security forces arrested three people in separate operations in Jowand district and two others in Dara-i-Bum district on suspicion of involvement in collecting materials used for drug processing and trading hashish. He said security forces seized 1,000 kilogrammes of soud, 50 kilogrammes of axel, 160 kilogrammes of powder used in narcotics production and two kilogrammes of hashish during the operations. Sediqi added that the cases of the suspects had been referred to judicial and legal authorities for further investigation. Meanwhile, Ghor police officials said four people had been arrested on suspicion of trafficking 110 kilogrammes of a narcotic substance known as “Eif” in the province. Ghor police spokesman Abdul Rahman Badri said the drugs had been concealed inside four motorcycles and were seized by security forces in Mullah Hasar village of Tolak district. He added that the seized narcotics were being transported by the suspects to an undisclosed destination.
