21 armed men killed, 32 captured in Nuristan’s Kamdesh — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 21 armed men have been killed and 32 others captured alive in Kamdesh district of eastern Nuristan province after attempting to cross the Durand Line and enter Afghan territory. A statement issued by the Nuristan police said: “A clash with a group of evil and corrupt elements occurred in the vicinity of Kamdesh district of Nuristan when the group attempted to cross the Durand Line and enter Afghan territory.” The statement said security forces in the area had already set up an ambush along the group’s route. As a result of the clash, 21 members of the group were killed and 32 others were captured alive. The police added, without providing further details, that some of those captured were also wounded. Nuristan security officials said security forces are fully prepared to protect the country’s national sovereignty, territorial integrity and the security of the people, and that they will not allow anyone to use Afghan territory for destructive, destabilizing or other subversive activities.
