KABUL (Pajhwok): At least 10 people, including the suspected gunman, were wounded in a mass shooting in Tucson, Arizona, early on Sunday, Reuters reported. The shooting occurred around 2 a.m. local time in a busy commercial area near downtown Tucson. Tucson Police Department spokesperson Frank Magos said officers responding to gunfire encountered a suspect and shot him after he failed to comply with repeated commands. The suspect was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries. Nine other adults were also wounded and taken to hospital. Most suffered gunshot wounds to their arms or legs. No police officers were injured. Police have not announced a motive, but local broadcaster KGUN-TV, citing police sources, said the shooting stemmed from a confrontation between two groups known to each other, with bystanders also struck by gunfire. According to the Gun Violence Archive, the incident brings the number of mass shootings in the United States this year to 257. The organisation defines a mass shooting as one in which at least four people are killed or injured by gunfire.
