KABUL (Pajhwok): Uzbekistan’s Technical Regulation Agency has expressed readiness to help Afghanistan’s power utility strengthen staff capacity, calibrate equipment, conduct specialised training and establish mobile laboratories, Da Afghanistan Breshna Shirkat (DABS) said. In a statement, DABS said its Chief Executive Officer, Mullah Abdul Haq Hamkar, met with Akmal Jumanazarov, head of the Technical Regulation Agency under Uzbekistan’s Cabinet of Ministers, during an official visit to the country. According to the statement, the two sides discussed technical standards in the electricity sector, enhancing laboratory capacity, implementing international standards and expanding technical cooperation. The statement added that the DABS delegation also visited the agency’s advanced laboratories, calibration centres and facilities for testing electrical equipment. DABS said Hamkar requested assistance from Uzbekistan’s Technical Regulation Agency in calibrating the company’s testing equipment in line with international standards, standardising its laboratories and establishing mobile laboratories. The Uzbek side expressed readiness to cooperate in strengthening the technical capacity of DABS employees, calibrating equipment, conducting specialised training programmes and providing mobile laboratories, according to the statement. At the end of the meeting, both sides reaffirmed their commitment to expanding long-term cooperation, exchanging technical expertise, implementing international standards and improving the quality and credibility of the electricity sector.
