Afghanistan, Russia to meet in Continental Futsal C’ship today — Pajhwok

KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghanistan are all set to meet Russia in their third match of the Continental Futsal Championship today (Wednesday) in Thailand. In a statement, the Afghanistan Football Federation (AFF) said the match would commence at 3:30pm Afghanistan time at the Nonthaburi Stadium. Afghanistan opened the tournament with a 6-1 defeat to hosts Thailand before suffering a 2-1 loss to Vietnam in their second match. After two consecutive defeats, the Afghan side will be looking to bounce back with an improved performance against Russia. Russia, one of the tournament favourites, began their campaign with a draw against Vietnam before defeating New Zealand in their second match. The Continental Futsal Championship is being held in Nonthaburi, Thailand, from August 1 to 6, featuring Afghanistan, Thailand, Russia, Vietnam and New Zealand. The tournament is being played in a single round-robin format, with each team facing the other four once. The team finishing with the most points will be crowned champions.
