KABUL (Pajhwok): Afghan athlete Mustafa Wakili has won a bronze medal in the under-69kg category at the Asian Ju-Jitsu Championships. In a post on its Facebook page, the Afghanistan Ju-Jitsu Federation said Wakili secured the bronze medal in the men’s under-69kg event. Meanwhile, the General Directorate of Physical Education and Sports said in a statement that Wakili won his opening bout by walkover after his opponent failed to appear. He then lost to a Kazakh opponent in his second match, earning the bronze medal in the full-contact discipline. The directorate added that another Afghan athlete, Mohammad Sarwar Hussaini, defeated opponents from Vietnam and Cambodia on Saturday, drew with a competitor from Uzbekistan and lost to a Kyrgyz opponent, falling short of a medal. According to the directorate, the Asian Ju-Jitsu Championships are being hosted by Kazakhstan and feature athletes from 49 countries, with Afghanistan represented by two competitors.
