KABUL (Pajhwok): Arafat Jamal, the UN refugee agency’s representative, says a trilateral meeting will soon be held in Kabul to discuss the challenges facing Afghan refugees in Iran, while the issue of Afghan refugees and forced deportations will also be discussed on the sidelines of an international meeting in Switzerland in October. The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation said in a statement that Minister Mullah Abdul Kabir met with Jamal to discuss the situation of Afghan refugees and multilateral engagement with host countries. Jamal said a meeting is planned on the sidelines of an international gathering in Switzerland in October to discuss the challenges facing Afghan refugees and forced deportations. He added that the UN refugee agency had reached an agreement with Iran to hold a trilateral meeting involving representatives of Iran, the United Nations and the Islamic Emirate. The meeting is expected to take place in Kabul in the near future. Jamal said the United Nations had launched efforts to address the problems of Afghan refugees and provide assistance, and had prepared a plan to mobilize the necessary financial resources.
